Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö
The Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö is one of the six departments at Lund University's medical faculty. We have a strong focus on clinical and epidemiological research, and we also conduct extensive preclinical laboratory research.
About the department
Our operations are located in a patient-friendly environment at Skåne University Hospital in central Malmö, and in other premises in Malmö and Lund. Large parts are located in Malmö at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC), a modern and award-winning building for research, education, health and medical care.
We have a longstanding and thoroughly established presence in the university healthcare of Region Skåne and a close collaboration with other parts of Region Skåne (which is responsible for all public healthcare in Skåne). Also nearby are Malmö University and Medeon Research Park.
A large number of doctoral students do their research studies with us. On the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, we have a prominent role in the faculty’s medical degree programme and the international Master’s programme in public health.
We cooperate with wider society through networks and collaborations, often with an interdisciplinary and interprofessional focus. Public authorities, county councils/regions, municipalities, the pharmaceutical industry and other private stakeholders in Sweden and internationally are part of our collaborative network.
Current research areas
The research covers a large number of medical fields, in which the most common diseases play a prominent role. Strong research environments exist in areas including:

- geriatrics
- surgery
- osteoporosis
